Recently we surveyed the Israeli customer success community to understand their level of satisfaction with their current salary. We asked –
How would you rate your satisfaction with your current salary? (Scale of 1-5, with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest)
Here are valuable insights into salary satisfaction per role title, company stage, and industry. (n=200)
- Satisfaction per role title

The survey revealed that the Head of Customer Success is the most satisfied with their salary, with an average rating of 3.8 out of 5. The Director of Customer Success and VP of Customer Success also expressed high levels of salary satisfaction, with an average rating of 3.6 and 3.7, respectively. The CSM and Senior CSM are the least satisfied with their salary, with an average rating of 3.3/3.2.
The results show senior positions in customer success are more satisfied with their salaries. As for the CSM, I believe the low satisfaction is tight to the day-to-day workload and scale challenges and the feeling that they are required to do more with less without getting compensated for it.
- Satisfaction per Company Stage

The survey also revealed that satisfaction with salary varies depending on the company stage. Series B Funding companies have the highest level of salary satisfaction, with an average rating of 3.7 out of 5. On the other hand, companies in Seed Stage have the lowest levels of salary satisfaction, with an average rating of 2.9.
A possible explanation is the fact that in the seed stage, there is typically a larger compensation component of options on behalf of base salary. Also, the financial stability at this stage is lower, enabling them to offer their employees lower salaries.
- Satisfaction per Industry

The survey revealed that the Biotech industry has the highest level of salary satisfaction, with an average rating of 4.5 out of 5. This is followed by the Cyber and Civil Engineering industries, with an average rating of 4.1 and 4.0, respectively.
The Biotech and Cyber industries stand out as having the highest level of satisfaction, which may be due to the highly specialized nature of the industry and the demand for domain expertise and in-depth technical orientation.
